Sandy Fargus, Tech Writer for Salable
Building an app is a great achievement. But it’s only the first step. If you want to turn it into a source of revenue, iterate, and improve, you need to monetize it. This gives you confirmation that the idea is worth investing in. It can provide funds to keep working on your app, and ultimately it can unlock a revenue stream.
If you’re a developer, you want this to be as easy as possible. Salable is a flexible tool that allows you to monetize your app with different payment plans, subscriptions and features. You can do all of that in just a few steps.
It doesn’t need to be in its final version, but you do need to have a few things nailed down before you start setting up your Salable account: Product Name, Type of App and Method for assigning licences e.g. Confetti Cannons for Trello, with licences per ber board.
Go to www.salable.org and create an organization. Once you have an organization you can use it for all the apps you make. You can also invite team members to join your organization so you can all work together.
The first thing you’ll need to do is link your payment tool to Salable. This can be a Stripe or Paddle account. Setting this up is quick and easy. You will only need to do it once, and then it will work for any app you build in the future as well.
This is done with a single form. You give your product a name, choose which payment integration you want to use, and select the default currency.
Capabilities allow you to easily turn on and off groups of functionality without the need for additional API calls. These should be things that all levels of your product can do. Simply choose names for your Capabilities and add them in.
